Kiran Chemjong Reaches 100th Appearance for Nepal


June 11, 2024: Kiran Chemjong, the captain and star goalkeeper of the Nepal national football team, marked a historic milestone by making his 100th appearance for the nation. This significant achievement came during Nepal’s match against Yemen in the joint qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Chemjong’s journey with the national team began in 2008 when he made his debut during the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Over the past 16 years, he has established himself as the undisputed number one goalkeeper for Nepal, showing exceptional skills and dedication on the field.

Throughout his illustrious career, Chemjong has played in various leagues across South Asia, including Nepal, Maldives, and India. In the Maldives, he competed in the Dhivehi Premier League, where he earned the title of Best Goalkeeper. Similarly, in India’s I-League, the second tier of the national football league system, he not only helped his team secure the league title but also won the Best Goalkeeper award. His success continued in Nepal’s Martyr’s Memorial A Division League, where he consistently performed at the highest level.

Chemjong’s talent and hard work also earned him a spot in the Indian Super League, the top tier of Indian football and one of South Asia’s most prestigious leagues. At 33 years old, Chemjong continues to shine on the field, proving his worth and showing that he has much more to offer in the coming years.
