Bhutan Hosts Bangladesh for Friendlies, Nepal Seeks Opponents for SAFF Pre-Championship Preparation
In a boost for women’s football in the region, Bhutan will host Bangladesh for a two-match international friendly series at Changlimithang Stadium on July 11th and 14th.
This matchup will see Bhutan, currently ranked 173rd in the FIFA Women’s Ranking, take on a higher-ranked Bangladesh squad positioned at 140th. Both teams are gearing up for the upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship scheduled for October in Kathmandu, Nepal.
While Nepal, the host nation for the SAFF Championship, is also looking to organize friendly matches for their women’s team, an official announcement from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is yet to be made.
Earlier reports suggested a potential three-nation cup featuring Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh, but Bangladesh opted for the two-match series with Bhutan instead.
This development leaves ANFA with the task of securing alternative opponents for friendly matches to provide their women’s team with valuable preparation for the SAFF Championship.
