The Nepali women’s national football team has been released from camp yet again, failing to secure any matches during the crucial July FIFA window. This marks the third consecutive missed opportunity for international exposure since February, including the cancelled Four Nations Tournament in Lebanon due to scheduling conflicts.
Plans to participate in a three-nation tournament with Bangladesh and Bhutan fell through as Bhutan had already arranged a friendly match with Bangladesh, leaving the Nepali team without any international fixtures.
With the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 approaching in October, hosted by Nepal itself, the lack of international competition is a cause for concern for Nepali football fans. The team is in dire need of practice matches to prepare for the championship on home soil.
Anjila Subba, captain of the Nepali women’s football team, expressed her disappointment after the Cedars International Women’s Tournament was cancelled.
