Wadjied Ryngkhlem’s early goal helped Shillong Lajong secure a win in their opening Group F game of the 133rd IndianOil Durand Cup. They played against Tribhuvan Army FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Shillong Lajong took the lead in the sixth minute with a well-placed shot from Ryngkhlem, who skillfully maneuvered past defenders and scored. Although Tribhuvan Army started strong, Shillong created better scoring chances throughout the fast-paced match. However, they struggled with their finishing, missing several opportunities to extend their lead.
Tribhuvan Army relied on counterattacks and had a chance to equalize just before halftime, but striker Basant Jimba missed a clear shot. In the second half, Shillong continued to attack and create chances but couldn’t find a second goal. Tribhuvan goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu made several impressive saves to keep his team in the game.
Despite the missed opportunities, Shillong Lajong’s early strike was enough to secure all three points.
